Laugh and Learn PDX Mandarin is here to ensure students become fluent in comprehending, speaking, reading, and writing Mandarin Chinese. We use a step-by-step curriculum that simultaneously improves students’ conversational skills, vocabulary, use of tones, reading, and writing. Every lesson is planned, detailed, and designed to maximize student learning results.

Teacher Li Xia
Li Xia is from Hunan, China and has taught Chinese and English for more than 10 years in Shanghai. Li Xia is a graduate of Chengzhou Teaching School (Bo Yi High School), and earned her B.A. at Hunan Normal University.
Teacher Leif
Leif grew up in La Grande, Oregon and has taught in the US and internationally for eight years. Leif earned his B.A at Lewis and Clark College, M.A at University of Florida, and holds an active, Oregon teaching licence
More About Us
Li Xia and Leif met in Shanghai, China in 2014. They ran a “Double L” language learning and STEM school in a Shanghai for four years. They share a passion for delivering quality lessons and cultivating joyful confidence.
