Our school blends an embrace of play with a routine of sound study habits.

Learning occurs when you’re having fun! We offer high-energy activities and games that appeal to students who love moving and socializing. An active, healthy body and an ability to undertake independent discovery are critical to nurturing a flourishing mind. We believe play is often the best way to jumpstart curiosity, motivation, and discovery. 


At the same time, we diligently plan lessons to equip students with responsibilities and skills that allow them to succeed in later stages of their lives. Respect, concentration, and teamwork are accomplished with direct guidance from us two teaching adults. We ensure young children enter elementary school as fluent Chinese speakers, and as academically capable students prepared to succeed in every subject. We offer a diverse range of enriching children activities each day, to enable a routinization of both study and play.

我们的课堂是一个浸入式中文教学环境,在各种主题游戏中学习,让学中文如母语般自然习得我们提倡在欢乐中学习,课堂提供高能量的活动和游戏,去吸引喜欢运动和社交的学生。一个活跃而健康的身体和独立发现的能力对于培养健康的心智至关重要。我们相信玩是激发孩子好奇心,动力和发展的最好方式。


与此同时,我们用心规划课程,让学生具备责任和技能,让他们在人生的后期获得成功。尊重,专注,团队合作都是在我们两位老师的直接指导下完成的。我们的目标是努力确保儿童进入小学时能说一口流利的中文,在每一门学科上取得成功。   我们的日常课堂计划是使游戏和学习成为一种习惯。

How We Teach Language Immersion

我们的浸入式教学

Our primary aim for students is ensuring their safety, security and confidence throughout the day. We achieve this goal by remaining patient and positive when guiding students through different routines—playtime, lessons, eating, music, yoga, bathroom, chores.

我们对2-6岁学生的主要目标是确保他们的安全,和信任中度过我们一起的一天。通过耐心引导学生完成不同的日常活动——游戏,上课,吃饭,音乐,瑜伽,上厕所,做家务等来达到这个目标。

New students enjoy jokes, music, understanding and compliments in both English and Chinese, to establish communication and trust. We use nonverbal communications—body language and physical demonstrations. We also use 4 short Chinese classes per day to specifically teach picture flash cards, chants, greetings, daily talk, and recognition of basic written characters.

Students and parents have electronic access to all our learning materials, plus the Easy Steps to Chinese for Kids textbook series matches the introductory content taught during a student’s first year.

As students become accustomed to a learning environment rich with support and praise, they begin to more readily recognize, comprehend, respond, and embrace the challenge of learning another language. We then have the opportunity to reserve longer portions of the day for exclusively Chinese communication.


当学生习惯了一个充满支持和表扬的学习环境,他们会开始更容易的认识,理解,回应,接受,学习另一种语言的挑战。然后,学生就会更习惯而且自然的去用中文和同学交流。

We’re into coaching up and complimenting students on their learning progress, no matter how small such results initially appear. Once students enjoy the learning process and feel their efforts are being validated by adults and their peers, they are more motivated to consistently follow routines and try harder.

当学生学习有进步的时候,我们会给他们赞美和记录,哪怕这些最初看起来多么微不足道。一旦学生们享受学习的过程,并感到自己的努力得到了成年人和同龄人的认可,他们就会更有动力坚持和遵循常规学习,更加努力。

How We Teach English Literacy and STEM Subjects
如何教授英语读写和STEM科目

While Chinese is the central focus of our day for young learners, we also include two lessons per day taught in English—one focused on English reading/writing, and another on a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) topic. Examples:
-group reading, one-on-one reading instruction

-vocabulary and grammar games
-basic writing

-active math skill-building exercises

-using people and things to understand + - x ÷ = ≠ symbols and examples

-science terminology

-outdoor exploration of living things
虽然汉语是我们这一天的中心课程,但是我们也有两节英语课,一节是英语阅读/写作,另一节是STEM(科学,技术,工程,数学)这些课程的例子包括让学生练习听和读故事书,词汇和语法游戏,数学技能建设活动,户外活动和动物探索,以及其他冒险活动。

Get To Know Us 关于我们

Li Xia and Leif met in Shanghai, China in 2014. They ran a “Double L” language learning and STEM school in a Shanghai for four years. In 2019, they had a baby boy.

李霞和leif老师2014年相识于上海,他们一起开办了为期4年的欢声笑语中英文课堂。

Li Xia is from Hunan and has taught Chinese and English for more than 10 years in Shanghai.

Leif grew up in La Grande, OR and has taught in the US and internationally for eight years.

李霞老师毕业于湖南师范大学,在上海有10年以上的中英文课堂教学经验。

leif老师来自美国波特兰,他硕士毕业,在美国和上海教学的经验超过8年。


Li Xia is a graduate of Chengzhou Teaching School (Bo Yi High School), and earned her B.A. at Hunan Normal University.  

李霞老师的高中是一个复合型师范学校,所以她也同时被培训为一名合格的老师。她的大学专业是电子商务。

Leif earned his B.A. at Lewis and Clark College, M.A. at University of Florida, and holds an active Oregon teaching license.
leif老师毕业于波特兰的 Lewis and Clark 大学,并在佛罗里达州大学取得硕士学位,他同时也考取了俄勒冈州的教师资格证。
